Matt Beatty was born in Calgary and has been performing professionally for the last 20 years. Over that time Matt has developed into one of the country's most diverse artists. Matt is a talented vocalist who plays great guitar but also performs as a drummer and a bassist. His song selection, aside from his originals, encompasses Rock, Pop, Blues, Country, Rockabilly, Jazz and anything else not nailed down.
Matt's "Outlaw Country/Rockabilly" group DoubleSuede released two singles "Black Widow" and "Dive Bar Debutante" with the EP "The deEP End" released mid January. DoubleSuede is up for Group of the Year at the 2023 YYC Music Awards in Sept. Matt recently won the Calgary Stampede's Windows On The West songwriting contest with his celebration of 100 years of chuckwagon racing "Stampede 1923". An original song "Abigail" was featured in the first episode of Paramount's "Joe Pickett" including a glimpse of Matt on the set. One of Matt's other projects is the "Shop Live YYC" musical variety show where some other of Matts original instrumentals can be heard alongside Matt's talented interview skills. Matt has interviewed some fantastic talent such as Jesse Dayton (Austin), Deke Dickerson (Los Angeles), Haley Jensen (Australia), Paul Pigat (Vancouver) Steve Pineo (Calgary) plus many more. Matt also released two Holiday songs into the world, "Christmas Time Again" and the well received "Christmas In Calgary". With both a solo album and a DoubleSuede (Rockabilly) disc in production Matt will have a whole bunch more song writing credits to speak too in the future.
As a full time musician and a happily married father of "lots" Matt also pays the bills as a highly in demand performer of other people's material.

Matt Beatty has performed all over western Canada in honkytonks, bars and world class resorts such as The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Matt has also played across Canada, literally. This includes playing on the Via Rail train over a 4 day cross canada trip as well as stand alone shows in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton and Quebec City. Matt also takes great pride in his history of playing outside Canada for events such as Canada Day in Vladivostok Russia, or at resorts in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Matts favourite gig memory is at the legendary home of the Beatles, the Cavern Club in Liverpool England.
In addition to The Shop Live YYC and Joe Pickett show, Matt has been seen through many different media formats such as Global TV, The Calgary Herald and Sun. Not to mention a front page spread in the Star Phoenix (Saskatoon) plus recent banner spreads in the Montreal Gazette, Edmonton Sun and Vancouver Province.
